Nobody starts a company to do paperwork
You started a company because you are good at something. Maybe you build things, fix things, design things, or sell things. Whatever it is — it was not filling out tax forms, tracking vacation days, or figuring out which social contribution goes where.
And yet, somehow, that is where a good chunk of your week goes. You are not running your business. You are administering it. There is a difference.
Workplace.hr exists so you can go back to doing the thing you actually started your company to do.
Software that does its homework
We do not believe in dashboards you have to stare at or systems you have to babysit. Workplace.hr works in the background. It prepares your documents, keeps your compliance in order, organizes what needs organizing — and then gets out of your way.
When you do need something, it is already there. Your contracts are drafted. Your filings are ready. Your employee records are up to date. You did not have to ask for any of it.
Think of it as the colleague who quietly handles all the stuff nobody wants to do — except it does not call in sick and it does not forget deadlines.
You grow, it grows
Most business software falls into one of two traps. Either it is too simple and you outgrow it within a year, or it is built for 500-person companies and makes you feel like you are driving a bus to pick up groceries.
Workplace.hr starts simple. You get what you need right now — document management, team directory, secure storage for sensitive data. As your company grows and your needs change, new capabilities unlock. You are never paying for things you do not use, and you are never stuck migrating to a new platform because the old one could not keep up.
One tool, from your first employee to your fiftieth.
Built by people who have had bosses
We are not consultants who read about HR in a textbook. We are people who have spent years inside companies — writing code, shipping products, dealing with the bureaucracy that comes with actually being employed somewhere in Europe.
We know what it feels like when your payslip is wrong and nobody can explain why. We know the joy of filling out the same form for the third time because someone lost the first two. We built Workplace.hr because we were tired of watching good companies waste time on things that should just work.
We are a small team based in Zagreb, Croatia. We are profitable, and co-funded by the European Union.
EU-first, not EU-adapted
Most business software is built for the US and then awkwardly stuffed into a European suit. US assumptions in every layer — at-will employment, US tax codes, imperial units for some reason — with a localization layer on top that never quite fits.
Workplace.hr is European from the ground up. EU labor law, EU data protection, EU payroll rules. We start with Croatia and expand to Germany, Austria, and Slovenia — then across the EU, one country at a time, done properly.
How we build
We like boring software. Software that just works, every time, without surprises. Here is what that means in practice:
Your data never leaves the EU. We run on dedicated servers in Europe — no US hyperscalers, no shared cloud instances.
Every customer gets their own database. Your data is never mixed with anyone else's.
Sensitive data is encrypted so that even we cannot read it. We are not being modest — we literally do not have the keys.
Authentication runs through our own identity provider, IdPlace.hr. We do not hand your login to a third party.
You pay for capabilities, not per person. Hiring someone new should not mean your software bill goes up.
