Public holidays in Netherlands
The Netherlands has relatively few official public holidays — just 8 days that are widely observed (not all are statutory): New Year's Day, King's Day (April 27), Liberation Day (May 5 — every 5 years as a full holiday), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. However, the generous vacation entitlement of 20 statutory days (most contracts offer 25-30) plus the mandatory 8% holiday pay compensates for fewer public holidays.
