Non-taxable benefits in Romania

Romanian employers can offer meal vouchers (tichete de masă) up to RON 40/working day — these are exempt from income tax and social contributions for both employer and employee, making them one of the most efficient benefits. Holiday vouchers (vouchere de vacanță) up to 6 gross minimum wages per year for public sector employees are also available. Other options include gift vouchers (tichete cadou) up to RON 300/occasion, nursery vouchers (tichete de creșă), voluntary pension contributions up to €400/year, and voluntary health insurance up to €400/year — all tax-exempt.
